Pen and Ledger ("we", "us") operates the Pen and Ledger Accounting application ("the App"), a private integration used to provide bookkeeping and accounting services. This policy explains what data the App accesses and how we handle it.
When you authorize the App through Intuit's consent screen, it accesses accounting data from your QuickBooks Online company, which may include: company information, chart of accounts, customers and vendors, invoices, bills, payments, transactions, and financial reports (e.g., balance sheet, profit & loss). The App accesses only the QuickBooks Online "accounting" scope you approve.
We use this data solely to provide bookkeeping, accounting, and reporting services to you as our client — for example, preparing financial statements, reviewing and categorizing transactions, and supporting month-end close. We do not sell your data, rent it, or use it for advertising or for training third-party models.
Access is limited to Pen and Ledger personnel working on your engagement. Data is transmitted to Intuit's QuickBooks Online API and to the AI assistant (Anthropic's Claude) used to perform the bookkeeping work, under those providers' respective terms. We do not share your data with any other third parties except as required by law.
The App runs locally on Pen and Ledger's own computer. OAuth access tokens are stored locally in a restricted-permission file and are not shared. We retain access only for as long as you remain a client and the connection is authorized.
You may revoke the App's access at any time from your Intuit account's connected-apps settings (see How to disconnect). On disconnection, the App can no longer access your QuickBooks Online data.
